Installation and version selection¶
The optimizer is a Windows Tk/ttk application with a separately installed proprietary RASAero II dependency. A Windows executable and Inno Setup installer were built for Assignment 14. The review ZIP contains source/evidence, not the installable program; use the corresponding ...WINDOWS.zip release for installation.
The Assignment 14 handoff identifies build 1.0.1 and the tested installed executable path C:\RASAeroOptA14Final\RASAero_II_Optimizer.exe. Development may have created many older shortcuts. Inspect shortcut Properties → Target rather than guessing based on its display name.
When launching for the first time, choose File → RASAero executable... if the optimizer cannot find RASAero II.exe. The tool expects that exact executable filename.
Running from source (developer workflow)¶
From an extracted review package on Windows:
python -m venv .venv
.\.venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1
pip install -r .\src\requirements-lock.txt
$env:PYTHONPATH = (Resolve-Path .\src).Path
python .\src\app.py
This does not install RASAero II.
First-launch check¶
Verify the Design and Optimization tabs, locate RASAero, and try loading a copy of a supported CDX1 before running a long optimization. If the status says optimizer compatibility check failed, resolve that before starting.
